Anton Esterhuizen

Anton holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Pretoria) and Master of Science (Mineral Exploration), with distinction (Rhodes).  He received the Dreyer Award by the Society for Mining Metallurgy and Exploration Inc (USA) for outstanding achievements in applied economic geology and was the first recipient of the Des Pretorius Memorial Award for outstanding work in economic geology by the Geological Society of South Africa.

Anton has had a successful career spanning more than 40 years in industrial minerals, coal, diamonds, base and precious metals, highlighted by discoveries of a number of world class deposits. In 1973 he commenced his career with Gold Fields of South Africa and in 1987 was a founder member of Pangea Exploration (Pty) Limited.  While with Pangea he was instrumental in the discoveries of the high grade Rhovan vanadium deposit, the Taaiboschspruit colliery, the Hillendale-Fairbreeze mineral sand deposits and the re-evaluation of the 16 million ounce Burnstone gold deposit, all in South Africa.  In Tanzania he was responsible for the discovery of a number of gold deposits such as Tulawaka, Buzwagi and Golden Ridge with his activities attracting major players into that country.  He was also responsible for the discovery of five titanium-zircon mineral sand deposits along the East African coast including the Corridor Sands ilmenite and Kwale rutile and zircon deposits.

Now a director of PanEx Resources, he has generated a number of diamond and base metal projects throughout Africa and has worked on the development of rare earth, niobium and tin deposits

Bernard Swanepoel

Bernard is a Partner in THINKspiration (a leadership and strategy consultancy) as well as founder of To-The-Point Growth Specialists. He also serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Impala, Zimplats, AREP (a clean energy company) and African Rainbow Minerals Limited. On all of these boards he chairs the investment/capital allocation committees.

Bernard is chairman of eXtract, a contract mining company and he recently created a R1bn resources investment fund as a partnership between eXtract and ARCapital. He is also the Chairman and co-owner of the annual Joburg Indaba (SA's premier Mining conference) as well as President of the AHi (SA's SME Business Chamber) as well as Chairman and Managing partner of MMC, a privately owned Manganese Refinery.

Previous roles include Chairman of Village Main Reef Limited and 12 years as CEO of Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited.

Mike Scott

Mike is qualified in Geology and Geochemistry (UCT) and in Mining Engineering (RSM) and holds a Business Management Diploma (UNISA). He is a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists and of the Geological Society of South Africa. Mike is also a recipient of the Des Pretorius Memorial Award for Outstanding Work in Economic Geology. He started with with Anglo American in Zambia in 1957. Mike's professional career has focused on project development, mineral exploration and mining, particularly the open pit mining of gold and platinum.

Mike was a member of the teams which discovered and developed Otjihase copper mine, Shangani nickel mine, Makonjwaan open pit gold mine, Sofala open pit gold mine and the Marsfontein and Klipspringer diamond mines.

Mike was also one of the team which developed the PPRust open pit platinum mine and the reopening of the Messina (now Limpopo) platinum mine.He was also instrumental in the development of the Phosiri platinum project as well as the Aurora, Grassvalley and Millenium platinum projects.

Helen Ruth Pein

Helen is an exploration geologist with over 25 years’ experience and extensive management, operational and exploration experience. She graduated cum laude from Stellenbosch University in 1985.

After graduating, Helen commenced her career at Gencor where she was primarily involved in Wits gold exploration. She joined Pangea Exploration (Pty) Limited in 1994, a private company which has been successful in discovering and assisting in the development of new mines throughout Africa. During her Directorship with Pangea, the small team was responsible for discovering a number of world class deposits. These include Mineral Sands deposits in Kenya, Mozambique, and Argentina. Gold in Tanzania, Witwatersrand Basin, SA, DRC and West Africa. Diamonds in DRC, CAR, Angola and SA. The Pangea team was also responsible for the re-evaluation of the multi-million ounce Burnstone Wits gold deposit. Helen has had representation on numerous Boards and Technical Committees of various listed and private exploration and mining companies

Helen is a fellow of the geological Society of South Africa and member of SME (Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration USA) and SEG (Society for Economic Geologists).

Dr Rob Kiefer

Rob holds an MSc in Geology from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and a PhD in Geology from the University of the Witwatersrand. He has over 20 years exploration and project management experience.

Rob has worked on Greenstone hosted gold in South Africa, Birimian hosted gold in West Africa and IOCG (Olympic Dam) style mineralisation in South Africa and Zambia.

In the Bushveld Complex in South Africa, Rob has worked on Merensky Reef and UG2 Reef hosted platinum group metal (PGM) projects as well as Platreef style disseminated platinum-nickel-copper deposits and PGM projects in China.

During Rob’s career at PanEx, he has gained experience in the search and development of both kimberlite hosted and alluvial diamond deposits in several southern African countries.

He is currently working on massive sulphide and stockwork hosted gold and base metal deposits for PanEx.

Clinton Halsey

Clinton is a member of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA). He holds Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand.

He completed his articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and has more than 15 years’ professional experience, primarily in mining and related industries. He has held senior financial roles at DRDGold and Harmony and was the Chief Financial Officer of Village Main Reef Limited. He was also a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee of First Uranium Limited.

Clinton is currently the Interim CEO of eXtract Group Limited and a Partner at To-The-Point Growth Specialists, and serves as a non-executive director and audit committee chairman on the board of MMC (Pty) Ltd.
